Grief and Loss Therapist in Montana and Washington and Washington

Maybe someone died, and the world kept moving even though yours did not.

Maybe you learned, at 38 or 52 or 67, that you are autistic or have ADHD — and suddenly whole pieces of your life make sense in a completely different way.

Or maybe it is your child who has changed.

Something happened. A death. A divorce. A move. A frightening experience. A major transition.

And now they are exploding over things that used to be manageable. Or they are clingy, anxious, shutting down, not sleeping, refusing things they used to do, or just…not quite themselves.

Sometimes you know exactly what changed.

Sometimes you only know that something isn’t working anymore.

Sometimes life changes the story you thought you were living.

You don’t have to rush through it.

A lot of therapy is built around getting somewhere.

Reduce the symptoms. Fix the behavior. Learn the skill. Move forward.

Sometimes that is useful.

But grief does not need to be fixed.

Learning you are neurodivergent after decades of understanding yourself another way can take some unraveling.

And a child struggling after loss, trauma, or transition usually needs us to understand what their behavior is communicating before we start trying to make it disappear.

Sometimes the work is slower.

Sometimes it is messy.

Sometimes there is anger, relief, grief, humor, confusion, swearing, silence, play, movement, or sitting with something you have spent a very long time trying not to feel.

There is room for all of that here.

You’re in the right place.

Therapist for Neurodivergent Adults in Washington and Montana

At Elowen, I work with adults moving through grief and loss, adults making sense of late-realized ADHD or autism, and kids and teens whose nervous systems are telling us that something has been too much.

The work is relational, nervous-system-informed, neurodivergent-affirming, and deeply human.

We slow things down enough to understand what is actually happening underneath.

Not so you can become easier to manage.

Not so grief can be wrapped up neatly.

Not so a neurodivergent person can become better at looking neurotypical.

Not so a child can learn to stop inconveniencing the adults around them.

The goal is more understanding.

More room.

More choice.

And a way forward that actually fits who you are.

You are not lost. You have been taught to ignore your own map.

At Elowen, therapy does not have to mean sitting still and talking your way through everything.

For children, the work may happen through play, movement, art, imagination, or metaphor. For teens and adults, it may include music, movement, creativity, conversation, humor, body awareness, silence, or finally having enough room to say what has been true for a very long time.

We pay attention to what your nervous system is doing, what your behavior has been trying to communicate, and what happens when we stop treating every difficult feeling as something that needs to be fixed.

There is room here to be complicated.

Neurodivergent Affirming Therapist Online in Montana and Washington

Hi, I’m Dylan,
and I can help.

Virtual Teen Therapist in Montana and Washington for ADHD and Autism
Neurodivergent Therapist for Grief and Loss, Transitions, Kids and Adults in Washington and Montana

I’m a clinical social worker and play therapist, and I’ve spent most of my career working with people whose inner lives don’t fit very neatly into a checklist.

Kids with enormous feelings. Teens who don’t have much interest in sitting across from an adult and explaining themselves. Adults grieving people, relationships, futures, or versions of themselves they thought they were supposed to become. Neurodivergent adults finally realizing there may have been a reason life always seemed harder than it was “supposed” to be.

I’m not especially interested in helping people become better at performing okay.

I’m much more interested in what happens when we get curious about the parts of you that have been called too sensitive, too angry, too much, too needy, too scattered, too intense — or not enough.

My work is grounded in play therapy, relational neuroscience, trauma work, attachment, grief, and nervous-system regulation. But therapy with me is also very human.

We might talk deeply. We might laugh. You might swear. A kid might spend half a session building something and say three words. A teenager might talk more while drawing or pacing than they ever would sitting still. Sometimes the most important thing that happens is simply being with another person who is not trying to hurry you somewhere.

I don’t expect you to arrive knowing exactly what you need.

We can start with what is happening now and figure it out from there.

How Therapy Works Here

Therapy at Elowen is relational, neurodivergent-affirming, and nervous-system-informed. I draw from NARM™, Synergetic Play Therapy™, attachment, and relational neuroscience.

We slow things down, make sense of what is happening underneath, and build more safety, connection, and choice from the inside out.

With me, you’re receiving not just the insights that come from years of experience and continued education, but also the steadiness, honesty, and compassion that my clients return for.
